• Use AquaSnap™ Free in combination with AquaSnap™ Total to identify the microbial ATP in a water sample. First, test a sample of water using AquaSnap™ Total and record number (total load). Then, use AquaSnap™ Free on the same sample and record this number (free ATP). The difference between AquaSnap™ Total and AquaSnap™ Free provides an indication of the microbial ATP contamination in the sample.

Ultrasnap sampling devices must be refrigerated at 2-8 degrees C (35 – 46 °F). Sample devices should be left out at room temperature for 10 minutes before being used. They can withstand exposure to room temperature conditions (<25°C) for up to 4 weeks without compromising functionality.

What’s the difference between AquaSnap Free and AquaSnap Total?

AquaSnap Total measures both microbial ATP (from living cells) and non-microbial ATP (from dead cells and organic debris) together. AquaSnap Free measures only the non-microbial portion. Used together on the same sample, the difference between the two readings isolates the microbial portion. Used together on the same sample, the difference between the two readings isolates the microbial ATP.

Do I need an AquaSnapTotal as well as AquaSnapFree?

We recommend buying both the AquaSnaps if you want to know the level of microbial contamination specifically. AquaSnap Free alone tells you the non-microbial ATP level but can’t isolate biological contamination on its own.

Which luminometer does AquaSnap Free work with?

AquaSnap Free is compatible with Hygiena’s EnSURE Touch and SystemSURE Plus luminometers.

How long do AquaSnap results take?

Around 15 seconds once the device is inserted into a compatible luminometer.
